About Us
Rural Trans Alliance CIC is a national community-focused organisation dedicated to improving the lives of transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people living in rural and underserved areas. We work to ensure that every trans person, no matter where they live, can access accurate information, respectful services, and a sense of belonging within their community.
Simply residing in, and also accessing gender affirming healthcare in rural regions can present unique challenges, including the need to travel long distances, limited specialist knowledge, social isolation, and a lack of reliable information. These barriers have real and tangible consequences for individuals confidence, wellbeing, and the ability to make informed decisions about healthcare and everyday life.
The foundation of our work is the belief that everyone deserves clear information, dignity, and fair treatment, whether they are navigating NHS Gender Identity Services, seeking community support, or simply trying to live openly in rural spaces.
Rural Trans Alliance CIC provides trustworthy resources, guidance, and evidence-based insight to help individuals understand their options and move through healthcare and public services with confidence. We also work with healthcare professionals, policymakers, community groups, and media to encourage informed, compassionate, and accurate approaches to trans lives.
Shaped by lived experience and community knowledge, our mission is to amplify rural trans voices, challenge inequality, and contribute to meaningful, long-term improvements in healthcare access, representation, and public understanding across the UK.
Creating space for trans people to thrive, no matter where they call home.
